The confusion and uncertainty was not caused by me, my predecessor or my Department; it was caused by those who set out on a crusade to block the building of the road. However, let us put that aside. My commitment now is to ensure that there is no more uncertainty and that, from here on, the road will be built and we will see it completed sooner rather than later. My officials will work closely with those landowners to ensure that they are in absolutely no doubt about what to expect and what the timelines are and, hopefully, allay their concerns and their fears.
