Text
The Treasury report was far off the mark regarding our society. That goes back to Diane's question about the National Wealth Fund. The Treasury does not fully understand how this place works or the differences between the roles of Departments, councils and arm's-length bodies (ALBs). When you compare apples and oranges, obviously, you will come out with the wrong answer to that equation. The Fiscal Council report is useful, as its reports always are. It is independent and the start of an analysis of that matter. The Fiscal Council is probably best placed at this stage to continue that work. I look forward to engaging with it on that matter, and I have no doubt that the Member and others will do so as well.
