Text
I congratulate Mr Kingston on a well-researched question. That gave me a chance to catch a breather. All of those factors come into play to varying degrees. Another factor is the lack of competition: as a result of Brexit, a number of insurance companies from the South pulled out of the market, which left a gap in competition. We have to look at all of those factors and ensure that we have a healthy, competitive market and that we are using all the regulatory powers at the disposal of either the Executive or the British Government to ensure that people here are getting a fair deal. I will want to see all the evidence presented to me before I make a final decision on where the problems exist. At the end of that, we, collectively, will have to form a mechanism that ensures that people here are getting a fair deal. As for the working group, my officials are coordinating work between Departments on the issue. It may not be classed officially as a working group, but, once we have analysed the current information, if it is felt that we need to move to having a formal working group, I will be more than happy to do so.
