Text
We recognise how deeply personal baby loss is and how important it is to bereaved families to have the certificate. My Department therefore continues to work closely with organisations and with health and social care trusts to raise awareness of the baby loss certificate scheme sensitively and compassionately. The Registrar General, Dr Philip Wales, will also participate in an event — I believe that it is on Wednesday — organised by the Finance Committee to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week. He also acknowledged the event on the steps of Stormont today, when he again highlighted the scheme. Such events make parents and loved ones more aware of the scheme. The decision on whether to apply for a certificate falls to them, but we are very keen to get the information out to as many people as possible.
