Text
I agree that we cannot have transformation by service collapse. It is wrong. What is happening at the minute with Daisy Hill is regrettable. I know that there are UK and European issues with regard to that service, but they need to look at separating obstetrics and gynaecology because doing so could solve some of the issues there. However, parties in the Chamber are not protesting against just service collapse: we constantly see protests from parties against transformation. If we are to put people first and ensure the true transformation of our heath service — not just a sticking plaster or a foot on the brake that means that, as soon as you take your foot off, waiting lists get worse again — then we need to be serious about where we go from here. We cannot take the politics out of health. That is not realistic. Instead, we need to put everyone first and ensure that we have a health service that can deliver for everyone in Northern Ireland, no matter where you live or how far you have to travel. That way, you will be supported, whether you are rural or urban. We need to put the needs of everyone first.
