Text
With the Speaker's permission, I will answer questions 1 and 4 together. A recruitment exercise to establish a dedicated team with the expertise required to take this work forward has now closed, and the team will be put in place in the coming months. Once established, the team will undertake detailed policy development work and prepare a framework for public consultation. As part of that process, the Department intends to engage with interested parties through a call for evidence and/or a public consultation. That engagement will help shape future policy proposals and inform the development of legislation in this area during the next mandate. Given the limited time remaining in the current Assembly mandate, the work undertaken during this period will lay the necessary foundations for reform, and the Department intends to continue the policy development and legislative preparation into the next mandate.
