Text
The EA has a desire to have greater use of its facilities by communities. Part of the change around youth work and something of which I have been supportive is having a greater role for the community and voluntary sector. There should be statutory involvement only when the community and voluntary sector is unable to meet the need in a community. However, if you can have a community and voluntary organisation — they are often personally invested in improving the outcomes of the young people and their society — the statutory organisations — in this case, the EA — ought to enable and support it. That has been part of the driver for the change in the youth framework.
