Text
I thank the Member for that question. CCEA took that decision as an awarding body. It provides the overwhelming majority of qualifications in Northern Ireland, but it reviewed the suite of qualifications that it provides, and German was one that it decided to remove. We operate an open qualifications framework in Northern Ireland. It is open to all schools to access German provision from other awarding bodies. In my constituency, one of the schools that has been impacted has indicated to me that it intends to continue providing German as an A-level qualification and will access an alternative awarding body to do so.
