Text

In my response to the original question, I mentioned that there were 4,400 placements for children in the transition years. They had secured a place before the start of term. There were obvious issues with trying to get placements for the start of the academic year. That was a much improved picture compared with that of the previous three years. All children have a placement in schools, but, often, in the placement process, as children go through the period of rolling assessment, some children in their placement will identify that they have a need. That is why it sits outwith the normal allocation of places for other children. The EA will say that it is to ensure that pupils get the right place. Every child has a placement in place, and every child will be in that physical school environment over the next number of months. There is a very small number who are currently in contingency arrangements to ensure that they are getting the best possible education.
