Text
I thank the Member for giving way. She has talked about the chilling effect that could, ultimately, lead to the impact of an ongoing PPS-type intrusive investigation to establish whether a crime has been committed under this legislation. In addition, and this is a point that has not been laboured, clause 9 is entitled, "No right to claim trial by jury". Given some of the concepts that we are debating, it is hugely worrying that somebody who is being tried for offences created by the Bill cannot even be afforded a trial by a jury of their peers.
