I thank the sponsor for his intervention. The proposed legislation goes much further than the examples that he has given. In fact, I will quote again my trans woman friend who has been in contact with me over recent days. She said:
"To be frank, I really don't know why he" —
her words, not mine —
"has put gender in there, I believe the trans groups themselves say that gender and sexual orientation are two separate issues so it begs the question, why."
That is a trans woman who is asking that question.
