Text

The Member is deliberately misrepresenting what I said. My question was as follows. Given that there are things in the Bible that can be taken in different contexts, such as sowing different types of seeds together or not doing anything on a Saturday or a Sunday, there are all sorts of things that may not apply to one directly, but every Christian, regardless, believes that the key principles are love, compassion and not judging, and being a good neighbour. I wonder how the Member takes those key principles when he looks at the Bill? I am not trying to expose him. I am just saying that one can take the Bible in all sorts of contexts, but the key message is what is important. In addition — it is not about offence — are you minded that that is very real for people, and how you talk about it actually matters? There are people in this Building to whom you come across as quite judgemental when you talk about it, and the Bible is clear on that.
