Text

I thank the Member for the question. He is quite right to raise the issue, because anyone in pain and agony on a waiting list may have to navigate what may seem like a complex system. There has been some uptake of the cross-border initiative but maybe not to previous levels. I give credit to my predecessor, who brought in initiatives on elective care waiting lists. That is where we have seen real benefits.

When the Member writes to me, I will look at the criteria and make sure that the information is broken down so that the best advice can be given on what is the best fit for his constituent. It is important to understand that the cross-border initiative is still available. Where that is the best fit, it is clear that the initiative still works.
