Text
I thank the Member for giving way. I really appreciate it. What she has said is very clear, but what she told us at the start of her contribution was that, if we truly wanted to ban harmful practices, we should support the Bill to ban conversion therapy. The problem is that, in the Bill's definition, conversion therapy is simply counselling or any form of talking therapy. It is coaching or instruction. Nowhere does the Bill refer to strapping a person to a chair, plugging someone into electrodes or locking somebody in a room. It says none of that. That is why we are so perplexed about the Bill. It is about its definitions and wide scope. That is the argument that we are having. It is not about whether we agree with bad practice in therapies but about the definitions of conversion therapy.
I just gave you three examples.
