Text
I appreciate the Member's giving way in what is a really important debate. I do not know whether the Member is aware, but a statement has come from the Equality Commission during the debate. It is clear that the Bill needs scrutiny and that it must comply with human rights law. The Equality Commission says in its statement that actions on this:
"should not deny access to appropriate counselling and support in psychological, medical, faith-based and domestic settings."
That is exactly what the Bill, as it is, does. Therefore, is the Bill sponsor not wrong to suggest that the Equality Commission is content with the Bill?
