Text

I appreciate the Member's giving way. The Member gets right to the crux of the issue that is at the heart of the Bill. These Benches are very clear that people are free to describe themselves however they wish. However, subjective self-description by a person based on how they feel cannot become part of the basis for a law on which another citizen is investigated, prosecuted and potentially imprisoned without a jury trial, as proposed in the Bill.
