Text

I thank the Member for taking an intervention. I appreciate that we are on the same page when we talk about regional balance and our city and region. We have a long way to go in relation to Invest NI. I contest that figure of 59% concerning regional balance outside the city. Invest NI counted the number of investments, but the value of those investments is only 35%. We have not done well. We had a nil return for FDI in 2025-26 and the same in the previous year. We are not doing well with our FDI. There is a long way to go. Invest NI needs to start measuring against meaningful targets. We got a fraction of the jobs that were created: only 6% last year. We are on a trajectory, but we have not really got off the ground yet.
