Text
As the Member will be aware, money is unfortunately not ring-fenced when it comes to us as a Barnett consequential. I would love it if it were, because, in so many areas of my Department, we are one of the biggest losers when it comes to Barnett consequentials, be that in employability programmes, work to tackle fraud and error in the welfare system, the arts or elsewhere. The money goes into the pot as a whole.
I frequently make the case about Barnett consequentials to the Finance Minister around the Executive table. I will continue to do that, and I would certainly appreciate the Member's support in that endeavour.
