Text
I am grateful to the Member for raising that issue, because I want the focus to be kept on housing and what we need to do. We have taken steps. That is one of the reasons why we had a 17% increase year-on-year in the number of social homes that are being built. It is not enough — there is still more to do — but we are in a better position than we were in when I came into office. We are also making other changes, as I have set out. When it comes to social housing, waste water infrastructure is still a concern. Perhaps, it is not as much of a concern as it is right now in the private sector, but it is still a significant issue. That is why we have a housing supply strategy in place. I brought that forward to ensure that we take a coordinated and joined-up approach to tackling the issues. There has been good cooperation, which has unlocked a number of sites over the past few years with the significant investment that has been made available to the Infrastructure Minister. I will continue to meet her. We will continue to meet officials to ensure that we put that money where it needs to go so that we can build more homes. That is what this is all about: increasing supply. That is what I am committed to doing.
