Text
No, I do not think that the outcome is acceptable, not just for Maisie but for a significant number of other children. Yes, I expect the Education Authority to deliver value for money and to interrogate the tendering processes of the various transport routes. However, I expect it to carry that out in a timely manner and, where there are gaps in provision, I expect efforts to be made to fill those gaps. I do not believe that the process was carried out in a timely manner. Parents should not have been advised, right at the point at which children were going to school, that provision was not in place. The EA has been working through that, and there has been a significant reduction in the number of children without provision in place. The way that this was handled over the summer months fell well short of what should have been expected from the Education Authority.
