Text

The Member raises a really valid point. The amendment would destroy all the work that the PSNI could do to intervene with young people and their activities. That is why, for example, Jim Gamble, an expert in his field, has come out and commented not only on the subject matter but on the petition of concern process. He stated that MLAs should put their "overriding ethical obligation" to protect children and society above any genuine ethical discomfort about backing the DUP's attempt to block legislation on the age at which criminals can be prosecuted. We should make that point here today.
