Text
I thank the Minister for his response and share in his disgust at what happened last week, especially to our healthcare staff. We saw the rioting, the racist violence and the mass disruption, and that prevented many healthcare staff from being able to get to work, which was sad to hear. We also heard that masked men set up a barricade and a checkpoint at the Mater Hospital. Staff sought an intervention from the PSNI and were advised to show their ID so that they could be let through. Does the Minister agree that that is not an acceptable response from the police? All staff who work in our health service should feel safe and secure going about their work. They should not be stopped by masked men as they try to get to their place of work to help people in our community.
