Text
I very much do. I am not sure when I last heard any of the individuals whom the Member mentioned say anything about Northern Ireland. Anything that they have had to say about the UK of late has not been particularly good either. It is the people in north Belfast, and in Northern Ireland more generally, whom I care about. We live in this society, and we recognise how much we have had to overcome in the past to end routine violence and abuse, some of which was also horrific and blood-curdling but perhaps not captured on video. I appeal to people in Northern Ireland to listen to people here who have their interests at heart. Be calm; continue to work with the police and support them in pursuing their investigation; and do not be drawn in by bad faith actors who simply want to weaponise this situation to drive forward an agenda that is in no one's interest in Northern Ireland.
