Text
I am profoundly disappointed that I have been prevented from bringing the Bill to the Assembly at this time and that MLAs have not yet had the fullest opportunity to consider it in detail. It is my view that workers and their families are being let down by the delay. The Bill has been designed to support good jobs and fair workplaces, while recognising the needs of business, and I intend to continue to seek its introduction in the Assembly as soon as possible. I have listened to businesses, and the Bill has been drafted to be a carefully balanced package. In spite of the delay, I am firmly of the view that there is still time in the mandate to progress the Bill and deliver progressive reforms for our economy. I encourage my Executive and Assembly colleagues to support that aim.
