Text

Thank you, Minister. One of your party colleagues whom you appointed to the board of Invest Northern Ireland, Mr Peter Lynch, was convicted of terrorist activity in 1993 for conspiracy to commit murder. Is there any crime that someone could carry out that, in your view, would disbar them from being appointed to public office? Or, is the sole qualification for appointment by you that they be a party colleague?

Assessment

Not flagged

Jev’s structured answers met the documented threshold for “not flagged”.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.58 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • None of the five culture-war criteria was met (each was below 0.60).
  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.77).
  • Subject area: Legacy of the Troubles, victims and paramilitarism.
  • The overall probability was moderate at most and none of the culture-war criteria was close to being met.
