Text
I thank the Member for giving way. I wonder whether he shares my observation. I have been reflecting that a lot of the same things are being said today in the Chamber. A lot of Members are saying, "Yes, we need inspection", and, so far, we will vote for the Bill to pass Second Stage so that we can balance what needs to be done. However, I am also hearing that one of the main concerns that people opposed to the Bill have is that they do not trust the Minister. Given that this afternoon's debate has not been conciliatory, how can we garner trust so that teachers who are watching can feel confident that the Assembly is listening, even if Members have different views about how we get there, and that we can put children at the heart of the debate and deal with each other appropriately? It was not acceptable that Members heckled Cathy Mason. They did not do that to Pat Sheehan and others. How do we have a conciliatory discussion about the Bill so that we can move forward together?
