Text

I appreciate Mr Burrows' giving way. He is right to say that people can play to the Public Gallery and be populist on this, but that infers that every teacher somehow agrees with the representations that have been made by others. The teachers whom I know are not afraid of having a light shone on practices that may expose issues of child safeguarding; in fact, they want that. We should listen to those voices and not misrepresent the situation by saying that, somehow, all teachers feel that the only way to get their rights is to deny an inspection of things such as school improvement and child safeguarding practices; quite the opposite is the case with the members of the teaching profession whom I know.
