Text
I thank the Minister for his commitment to progressing Jade's law in Northern Ireland. Given the high levels of femicide in Northern Ireland, coupled with the long delays in getting cases to court, when Jade's law is introduced here, if it replicates that in GB, it will not be activated until the person is convicted, so the family of little children whose mother has been brutally murdered in devastating circumstances will possibly have to wait a couple of years until the case gets to court to get an answer. That seems really unreasonable to me. What other measures are therefore available through the family courts in the very moment that children are faced with that situation?
