Text
It says two things to me. First, it speaks to the confidence that the National Lottery has in the Together for Families project, because that £30 million is an unprecedented investment in a project of that scale in Northern Ireland. Even if the funding had been only £1 million, I am convinced that the National Lottery would still have done its due diligence and sweated the proposals in order to be assured that the plan was solid and robust. Secondly, it tells us about the value of partnerships. As we try to shift left, we will look to others to come in and help us with funding and other resources. The Member will be aware of our cancer charities fund, which is relatively new. We put in £1 million, and Macmillan Cancer Support matched it with another £1 million, so we got £2 million. That is how we must work in these constrained financial times. We must gather up pots of money to enable the shift left to the neighbourhood model.
