Mr Robbie Butler: Assembly records
All of Mr Robbie Butler’s imported questions, contributions and motions in this mandate, newest first, including those assessed as not flagged, uncertain or not yet analysed.
Clean Biomethane for Northern Ireland's Energy, Food and Environmental Security That this Assembly notes that Northern Ireland produces significant volumes of slurry, poultry litter and food waste; recognises that Northern Ireland faces a defining moment in securing its energy future, strengthening its agri-food…
I appreciate your giving way. We need to set the record straight when it comes to New Decade, New Approach. There are no signatures at the bottom of the document. It contains a series of commitments that were made by individual parties. What is at stake here is the blockage. It is not about New Decade, New Approach.…
Thanks, Mr Gaston, in the corner, for your words of encouragement. I will take them in the manner in which they are probably not intended. I am the Ulster Unionist Party's spokesperson for agriculture, the environment and rural affairs. We may well support the motion. I will get to the detail. We may well support it…
I thank the Member for his answer. It shows that the Assembly is a popular destination for many, but I am sure that Members would agree that there is still room to improve. There is nothing better, as Mrs Cameron said, than sharing the Building with the public who own it. Does the Member agree that there seems to be a…
On that point, you are absolutely accurate about the wording: it says "suggests" and "expected". We want certainty when we legislate. To use the words "suggests" and "expected" suggests that those figures are a moveable feast, particularly the one penny or more on fuel, given the current geopolitical situation and the…
I thank the Member for giving way. His are the same points that his colleague from South Antrim made. We are not against decarbonisation, but the SI will not generate a cent or farthing for the Northern Ireland maritime contingent from decarbonisation. The fact that we will not be able to get shore power for probably…
I think that the Member and I are on the same page in that regard, but does he not accept that, given the failure to be able to provide power to ships at the dockside and that biomethane is four times as expensive, this is not an incentive to decarbonise, which is what everybody wants; it is simply a carbon tax?
I thank the Member for giving way. She raises the spectre of the impact on businesses. Does she agree that there was absolutely no quantification of a reduction in carbon through discharge?
I thank the Minister for his update on the remediation strategy. He has rightly used the phrase "making the polluter pay" many times. Can he give us an update on how those responsible for the Mobuoy site will be held accountable for its remediation, where that is possible?
I thank the Member for giving way. He mentioned the Assembly and Executive Review Committee (AERC). I note that it is mentioned in the amendment, which we will not support. The purpose of that amendment is to have the issue considered by the AERC. Does the Member agree that the Good Friday Agreement was an incredible…
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail a timeline of reporting on the Draft Disability Consultation, including the creation of the Disability Forum.
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any resource he has put in place to review and report on updating the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
I thank the Minister for his answer, and I wish him well with any future visits. I declare an interest, as my daughter is a nurse in the elective care unit at Lagan Valley Hospital. I am glad that the Minister had good service there. With regard to tackling waiting lists, how important is it that the investment of…
The Minister rightly pointed out how important the harvesting of data is. Can he give any sense of whether the new systems and investments are directly improving patient care?
Mr Butler asked the Minister of Health, who, the Member knows, will agree with him that the Lagan Valley elective care centre is a major regional player in the health system across Northern Ireland, how important a role that elective care unit at the Lagan Valley Hospital plays in the Minister's vision for…
To ask the Assembly Commission to outline any steps it has taken to increase public awareness and accessibility to Parliament Buildings, including the catering outlets open to the public.
I welcome the opportunity to speak on this important motion and thank the Member for West Belfast for proposing it. The issue is not an abstract one for me but one of the most common issues that is raised in my constituency office. Given the questions that I have previously asked him, the Minister will know that that…
I thank the Member for giving way. Having worked with him for 10 years now, I know that he is committed to justice, security and a peaceful settlement. He went from speaking about the Prison Service to speaking about the Police Service. He highlighted the fact that the prison population has risen. Does he accept that…
