To ask the Minister for Communities, pursuant to AQW 36349/22-27, whether he will publish the Gambling Code of Practice before the Assembly's 2026 summer recess.
There are things that we do in the Chamber regularly, and this is one of them. As the proposer of the motion initially said, this is a topic that has come up time and time again. Wildfires are another issue that we have been talking about. We really need to get to grips with many of the things that we just rinse and…
I thank the Member for giving way. I find this fascinating, given that we passed legislation in the previous mandate that Justice Humphreys found issues with. I think it was sections 12 to 16 of the Justice (Sexual Offences and Trafficking Victims) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022. Will the extension give the Committee…
Thank you very much, Mr Deputy Speaker. I am going to do this slightly back to front. Usually, when we make a winding-up speech, we wait until the last part of our speech to credit those who have spoken, but I will do that first because I thought that an incredible amount of very powerful testimony was delivered…
Sorry, I meant to say "Minister". I am not diminishing your function. I do not know whether the Minister mentioned the Department for Communities, but I recognise in my area a growing concern, which is that a lot of vulnerable people who are drug users are being housed in the same premises. Often, that lends itself to…
I thank those who tabled the motion and those who tabled the amendment, because it is a relevant debate on a prevalent issue. I will put that in a little bit of context. A number of weeks ago, I was in Lisburn Square in Lisburn, which is a beautiful, pedestrianised precinct. It is a great shopping area, which partners…
I am not one to stick up for the Agriculture Minister, but you are evidently not listening. He has said numerous times that it is not about stock reduction. We are talking about securing herd numbers here. If you had listened to the motion, you would also know that it is not about land-grabbing; a fact that has to be…
The Member makes an excellent point, and I will not argue with it. However, this is unique in that around 85 AD plants are already operating. Therefore, we have history and evidence from which to learn regarding what, perhaps, went wrong and how we might improve it. It is not a blank canvas.
Does the Member accept that that already happening? An element of biomethane is already being injected into our grid, so it is tried and tested — it works — and, through R&D, the price will come down.
I thank the Member for giving way. I will not argue with anything that the Member has said, because a small element in the Department for the Economy's energy division is working on a biomethane strategy. Does the Member recognise, however, the value of the circular economy here and the weight of the role that it…
Just on that, does the Member recognise the fact that what has happened out of this is that a lot of land has come back into the animal feed space? There was a fear that it would all be grass-fed, but it is not. We are looking at food and manure wastes, and the knock-on effect is that we can reclaim a lot of that land…
