Mr John Blair: Assembly records
All of Mr John Blair’s imported questions, contributions and motions in this mandate, newest first, including those assessed as not flagged, uncertain or not yet analysed.
I thank the Minister for his statement and all involved in the inter-agency work on aquaculture and marine. Directly related to that, is there an update on the recent fish kill in the River Roe?
Can the Minister give us more information about what was discussed in relation to Lough Neagh, given the sheer scale of its catchment area and the transboundary nature of the issues surrounding it?
I thank the Minister for that reply. Will he outline how he is ensuring or, perhaps, working with others to ensure that social houses planned for rural areas will be energy-efficient?
Environmental Improvement Plan That this Assembly agrees the importance of urgently adopting an Environmental Improvement Plan, as Northern Ireland's first Environment Strategy, to complement the implementation of a comprehensive, overarching and cross-departmental approach to tackle the water quality issues at Lough…
I welcome the Minister's answer on the movement towards an independent environmental protection agency. As that process takes place, will the Minister continue to engage with stakeholders in and around the Lough Neagh catchment area and include them in all policy discussions?
The Minister has mentioned this already, but will she confirm that engagement with stakeholders will continue as the recommendations in the review are implemented?
Does the Minister agree that all mechanisms available to the Policing Board should be exhausted in such circumstances before any inquiry should be considered? Those matters around policing arrangements are precious and important to the accountability of the Chief Constable to the Policing Board.
I speak as the Alliance spokesperson for agriculture, environment and rural affairs, and I am, of course, also a member of the AERA Committee. The motion acknowledges, though only in outline, that Northern Ireland's ammonia levels are unsatisfactory and that the agri-sector's environmental footprint needs to improve.…
Mr Blair asked the Minister of Justice to give an update on the progress that her Department is making on the Gillen review, which she mentioned in an earlier reply, given the wide-ranging but very important issues associated with that review.
Motion Amendment · Private Members' Motion · to “Promoting On Farm Investment”
Promoting On Farm Investment - Amendment 1 Leave out all after the first ‘Northern Ireland’ and insert: ‘notes that the Office of Environmental Protection commenced an investigation into Ammonia Standing Advice on 23 May 2023 and subsequently issued a judicial review pre-action letter to the Department of Agriculture,…
To ask the Minister for the Economy to outline how much funding will be allocated to the action plan being developed by the Green Energy Skills Industry Reference Group.
I thank the Minister for that answer. I will continue with a question on water quality. Can I have an update on the implementation, if there is to be any, of event duration monitors, which give notification that there will be a sewage overflow issue?
I will continue on a theme already established and ask the Minister whether he has any plans to increase dedicated cross-border working on animal welfare such as that done previously, as mentioned in the statement, on the African swine fever contingency plan.
Mr Blair asked the Minister for Infrastructure, having discovered in his work on water pollution a historical document, dated 2007, by the Utility Regulator, entitled 'Regulation of the Northern Irish water and sewerage industry: Statement of Regulatory Principles and Intent', which states, amongst other things, that…
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure how his Department is addressing the environmental impact of infrastructure projects, such as reducing construction waste.
